RAY STEVENS'
SONGS
CHECK THE OTHER CATEGORIES FOR SOME OF RAY STEVENS SONGS
| RAY STEVENS SONG section..it
truly cheers one up and puts a smile on one's
face! As you know, Ray's most singular talent that
made him famous..and "America's favorite musical
funnyman"..is his way of setting unusual
characters & stories - and rib-tickling humor
- to his music and songs. It's interesting to note
that not all of Ray Stevens' songs are of the
Country & Western persuasion. Some are of the
1950's pop-rock persuasion; some have a 1940's
Swing Band and Boogie-Woogie air to them; some are
sort of Rhythem & Blues-ish; and others are
Easy Listening. Though some of Ray's songs are
serious, most of them are his one-of-a-kind
side-splittingly hilarious novelty comedy songs.
There are a host of Ray Stevens "Greatest Hits"
collections on CD; and among the best of these
collections is his three-CD disc RAY STEVENS BOX
SET. It is AWESOME! Among the best songs in this
collection are the following: 1. HUMOROUS: "Erik
the Awful"; "Pirate Song"; "Cat Song"; "Dog Song";
"Haircut Song"; "Kitty-Cat's Revenge"; "Jeremiah
Peabody's Polyunsaturated Quick-Dissolving
Fast-Acting Pleasant-Tasting Green and Purple
Pills"; "Freddy Feelgood's Funky Little Five-Piece
Band"; "Woogie Boogie"; "Bridget the Midget";
"When the Kids Are Gone"; "Freudian Slip"; "Hang
Up and Drive" (good advice to drivers with
cellphones and other gadgets); "Driver's
Education"; "Too Drunk to Fish"; "Virgil and the
Moonshot" (NASA would love this one); "Power
Tools"; "Blue Cyclone"; "The Streak"; "Shriner's
Convention"; "Mississippi Squirrel Revival"; "It's
Me Again, Margaret"; "Ahab the Arab"; and "Gitarzan";
and 2. SERIOUS: "Boogie Woogie" (unlike the
humorous "Woogie Boogie", the serious song
entitled "Boogie Woogie" is purely instrumental;
and it features Ray playing the piano); "Misty";
"Nashville"; "Let's Roll"; "Everything Is
Beautiful"; and Ray's patriotic ballad enitiled
"Thank You". Though not included in Ray's BOX SET
collection, among Ray's other songs are the
humorous ones entitled "Blue-Haired Lady"; "Used
Cars": "Back In the Doghouse"; Barbecue"; "Jack
Daniels, You Lied to Me"; "Bricklayer's Song";
"Your Bozo's Back"; "Can He Love You Half As Much
As I?"; "I Saw Elvis in a UFO"; "You Gotta Have A
Hat"; "Sex Symbols"; "Secret Agent Man
(Information Man)"; "Tabloid News"; "Ain't Exactly
What I Had In Mind"; "Teenaged Mutant Kung-Fu
Chickens"; "Motel Song"; "Where Do My Socks Go?";
and "Summer Family Vacation"; and the serious song
entitled, "Mr. Businessman". Some of Ray's comedy
is available on DVD and VHS video, and available
on both VHS video and on audio CD is Ray's 1993
live concert that he performed at his then RAY
STEVENS THEATER in Branson, Missouri..it's
entitled "RAY STEVENS LIVE!" |
